Video Impressions of the Lot : Martel

Today we visit Martel, a charming medieval town in the north of the Lot department, the town of the seven towers, the Truffadou Steam train - that gained its nickname from the main cargo it carried, that of Martel truffles - and a lot more.

Have a nice Sunday.

Malbec : the wine of Cahors and Argentina : two aspects

As you all know, Malbec, the grape originally from Cahors, is also the grape of most Argentinian wines.

Don't let us be too chauvinist and look at two different aspects of Malbec.

First of all let's submerge into Argentina, the land not only of Malbec wines but also of tango (some very interesting thoughts and parallels here).

Secondly, a very interesting article on a comparison between Cahors and Argentinian Malbec wines.

You will see that the Cahors Malbec wines have nothing to be ashamed of, on the contrary. They stand the test very well.

spring and tiling II

It was a lovely week so much so that all coffees and aperitifs were taken on the "iezeluk" terrace.

Thanks to this lovely weather the tiling of the loggias and balconies was finished as foreseen.

There even remained some time to cut the apple tree of the parking space and downsize it to one third.
This was absolutely necessary as it couldn't cope any longer with the huge amount of fruits and also because of the insects and wasps inside.
According to one of our hosts last year, a pomologist, the radical downsizing of the tree is the only way to make it healthy again.

spring and tiling

Sorry for the "non blog" of last week but I got a bad stroke of influenza and gastroenteritis.

Since a few days the primavera has arrived, the spring is in the land as we say in Flemish.
The first flowers - periwinkle (vinca minor) and daffodils (narcissus) - popped up.

The latter always make me think of the beautiful novel by Hermann Hesse, Narziss und Goldmund, Narziss being the Apollonian character.

As spring is in the air the energy to do some works returned.
The last tiling works were started : the loggias and the balconies of the guest rooms.

By the end of next week they should be ready.
